Bruichladdich was founded in 1881 by the Harvey brothers on the western part of Islay. After a long history in 1994, a group of enthusiasts led by independent bottler Murray MacDavid took over the distillery in 2001 and relaunched production with Jim McEwan, elected several times "distiller of the year".

Distilled on 22nd March 1960 and matured in single sherry butt #1043. Bottled in September 1973 at a natural strength of 100 proof.
