Bruichladdich was founded in 1881 by the Harvey brothers on the western part of Islay. After a long history in 1994, a group of enthusiasts led by independent bottler Murray MacDavid took over the distillery in 2001 and relaunched production with Jim McEwan, elected several times "distiller of the year".

Bruichladdich distilled in January 1966 and bottled 39 years later in January 2005 by Duncan Taylor.

Bottle number 6 of only 230 yielded from cask #190.
