Bruichladdich was founded in 1881 by the Harvey brothers on the western part of Islay. After a long history in 1994, a group of enthusiasts led by independent bottler Murray MacDavid took over the distillery in 2001 and relaunched production with Jim McEwan, elected several times "distiller of the year".

This was distilled in June 1968 and bottled June 1998 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the company. Cask #2326 yielded just 186 bottles.
