The estate owes its name to the location of the vineyard, from where the winegrowers could hear the angelus ringing at the bell towers of the three surrounding churches: the chapel of Mazerat, the church of Saint-Martin de Mazerat and that of Saint-Émilion

The family property of the de Boüard de Laforest would have been founded in 1782 and the current leaders would represent the eighth generation of the family on the property, it is in that year that Jean de Boüard would have arrived in Saint-Émilion and would have bought land there.
