Few winegrowers in the world can pretend to produce wine since 1481, the ancestor of the Chave received indeed, at the end of the fifteenth century, a plot of vines on the hillside of Bachasson from the local lord for service rendered.

Bachasson is one of the 5 terroirs that represent the historical and qualitative heart of Saint-Joseph, with the valleys of Chalaix, Champs, Oliviers and Doux, the rebirth of this magnificent hillside will be initiated in the 1990s, period of its rebirth by Jean-louis Chave.
